Three Uses for Leftover Bread

You've probably had a time when you've had two hot dog buns left or a couple of slices of wheat bread that have gone stale. Instead of tossing the bread, try one of these uses for it.
Make bread crumbs.
Bread crumbs cost about $2.00 for a small container, but you can make the crumbs for a few pennies. Take heels of the bread or pieces going stale and grind them in a food processor. Then just toss them in an airtight container - an empty bread crumb cylinder works well - and keep them for months for casseroles and breaded meats.
Make tomato bread.
Tomato bread works well for a lunch dish or as a side dish with dinner. Take leftover hamburger buns. Spread a little butter and sprinkle with garlic powder. Then put sliced tomatoes and top with cheese. Broil for 5 minutes for a tasty treat.
Turn bread into croutons.
Heat your oven to 250 degrees. Cut bread into small cubes. Toss olive oil, garlic, and selected herbs into a bowl. Throw in a handful of bread cubes for 1-2 seconds and then put them in a single layer on a baking pan. Cook the croutons for 15 to 20 minutes until they turn golden brown and then use them for soup or salad toppers.
Have a ham and cheese sandwich.
Leftover hot dog buns work really well as sandwich bread for lunch. Spread on condiments and then add in ham and cheese for a quick lunch.
